What are the causes leading to the breakdown of solar covers?
|
It is a known fact that pool chemistry is by far the greatest factor in Solar cover degradation. Reaction to the pool water sanitizer, namely chlorine, is detrimental to the Solar Cover laminates. Improper pool chemistry or too high a sanitizer level greatly reduces the life of a Solar cover. Ensure that your pool chemistry is balanced and that you remove your Solar cover while dispersing chemicals onto your pool water surface. Your Solar Cover should remain off for at least a period of one hour after adding chemicals of any sort into your pool water.
Chemicals in combination with Heat from the sun's rays, combine to break down the water-side surface or "bubbles" and cause them to weaken and ultimately, to delaminate. Once this happens, a weak spot has been created and further deterioration of the Solar Cover laminates can be expected.
